RELAXATION TECHNIQUES TO RELIEVE STRESS

Life throws us a lot of curve balls which may cause us stress. We need to try facing stress with a positive outlook. It is a lot easier said than done, but armed with the proper techniques, you can help relieve your stress.

Here are some relaxation techniques to help you smooth out those bumps in the road. I urge you not to let stress get the best of you. Why not fight back using these methods?

Here are some free and inexpensive alternatives which include:

1) A nice long bath or a shower will help relieve stress.
2) Take 10 or more slow deep breaths. Breathe in through  the nose, and out through the mouth.
3) Exercising. It doesn't have to be a lot. Do some jumping jacks. If all you can do is 5, do 5.
4) Try some stretching. You can do this while you are watching television, listening to music, or talking on the phone.
5) Listen to music that makes you happy or just sing or hum your favorite song.
6) Eat something healthy. Homemade Microwave Popcorn. (The recipe is on The Breakdown Café blog site just click on recipes in the side bar.). Crunching on an apple, celery, or carrot also relieves stress. It's just something about that crunchy sound and texture.
7) You can chew a piece of sugarless bubble gum. Blowing bubbles helps relieve stress. Avoid sugarless products if you are pregnant or expecting to get pregnant.
8) Play with some soap bubbles. Have some fun with it. Blowing soap or gum bubbles helps relieve stress because you are actually doing some relaxation breathing.
9) Think positive. Visualize yourself being victorious over the problem or in the situation.
10) Close your eyes, put on some soothing music, and think about a meadow filled with butterflies and beautiful fragrant flowers growing by a waterfall. Visualize yourself sitting in a rocking chair witnessing a wonderful sunset or sunrise.
11) Get plenty of rest. You need your beauty sleep.
12) Drink water.
