Marinara Sauce

Why buy bottled spaghetti sauce? Check the labels on those sauces and you will find that some have added starch. Most all of them have added sugar. Have you ever tried making your own sauce? It's not difficult or time consuming.  Your fresh homemade sauce will be done before your pasta water starts to boil. You can even prepare several batches and freeze them in resealable bags.

Marinara Sauce

2 - 3 Tablespoons of  my Herbs & Spice mixture (recipe in the blog)
1 28 Can Petite Diced tomatoes
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes

2 - 3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 small onion finely chopped
1 clove garlic minced
1 green bell pepper finely chopped.

Salt and Pepper to taste

Heat large skillet on Medium to Medium High Heat. Add olive oil, onions, bell peppers, & garlic. Sauté veggies until onions are soft & translucent. Add both cans of tomatoes. Sprinkle with Herbs & Spice mixture. Stir & heat mixture thoroughly. Add some cooked ground beef or ground turkey. Pour over pasta. TIP: If you are going to freeze the sauce, don't add salt.
