WHAT IS A MINI STROKE?

A mini stroke is actually a transient ischemic attack or TIA. TIA is like a stroke because it has similar symptoms, but usually only last a few minutes without causing permanent damage. A mini stroke may be a warning. About 1 in 3 people who have a TIA eventually has a stroke within a year after the mini stroke episode.
A transient ischemic attack can serve as both a warning and an opportunity — a warning of an impending stroke and an opportunity to take steps to prevent it.
If you feel you or a loved one may have experienced any stroke symptoms, contact your medical provider immediately.

STROKE SYMPTOMS:
Sudden weakness, numbness or paralysis in your face, arm or leg, typically on one side of your body.
Slurred or garbled speech or difficulty understanding others.
Sudden blindness in one or both eyes or double vision.
Dizziness, loss of balance or coordination.
